About us

Austin Guinea Pig Rescue is a tax-exempt non-profit organization (tax id 46-3542287) dedicated to rehoming guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, gerbils, mice and hedgehogs in the Austin, Texas area. Our rescued animals are treated for any medical issues, socialized and fostered until they are ready to be adopted.

Our founder and current president, Kim Meyer, fostered for a rabbit rescue group for several years, and has been a member of the House Rabbit Society since 1994.  She is also on the board of directors of Vision Hills Sanctuary. The other members in our board of directors are Kelsey McNitt (treasurer), and Lucia Summers (secretary).

We do not have a public shelter; instead, all our animals are in private foster homes.

Austin Guinea Pig Rescue has been interviewed on A Variety of Pets Media on blogtalkradio and has also had some videos posted on YouTube by A Variety of Pets Media.
