About us
Austin Guinea Pig Rescue is a tax-exempt non-profit organization (Tax ID 46-3542287) dedicated to rehoming guinea pigs in the Austin, Texas area. Our rescued animals are treated for any medical issues, socialized and fostered until they are ready to be adopted.
The current Board of Directors are Amy Constant (President), Meg Luck (Treasurer), Kim Meyer (Secretary), Javier de la Fuente (Member at Large), Kelsey Chambers (Member at Large) and Lucia Summers (Member at Large). These individuals comprise our Board of Directors and bring lifelong experience in animal rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption.
We do not have a public shelter; instead, all our animals are in private foster homes.
In the past, Austin Guinea Pig Rescue participated in an interview about the rescue's beginnings, mission, and day to day operations at the time with A Variety of Pets Media on blogtalkradio along with additional videos posted on YouTube by A Variety of Pets Media. Founding Members Kim Meyer and Lucia Summers were interviewed as part of the Acts of Impact podcast piece on small animal rescue and how the rescue has saved over 1000 animals over the years.
